A crystal consists of matter that is formed from an ordered arrangement of atoms, molecules, or ions. Because there are repeated units, crystals have recognizable structures. There are seven systems of crystal structures.
Examples of everyday materials you encounter as crystals are table salt (sodium chloride or halite crystals, sugar (sucrose), and snow.
How to grow Great Crystals?
1. First we have to obtain a seed crystal by pouring a small amount of our saturated solution of copper sulfate onto a plate,we let the drop evaporate, and scrape the crystals formed on the bottom to use as seeds.
2. Next, we are going to grow a great crystal by taking a pen and attaching a piece of string to it and then we tie one of our seed crystals to the end of the string. Then, we suspend the crystal in a clean container with saturated solution of copper sulfate, and grow our crystal.
